Zmeevo is a village in Northeastern Bulgaria. It is located in the Municipality of Balchik, District of Dobrich.

The village is located approximately 15 miles northwest of the City of Dobrich and about the same distance from the Black Sea. It is also situated near the renovated international road to Romania, offering convenient access to cross-border travel.

The population is 178 people, according to the latest census.

In the village, there is a Town Hall, a post office, an Orthodox Church, an active community centre with a library, a food shop and a pub.

According to legend, the village’s name originates from the word “zmiya” (“snake”). The tale tells of a dragon who once lived in the area and fell in love with a beautiful local girl. However, she did not return his affection. Heartbroken and angered by her rejection, the dragon unleashed a swarm of snakes upon the village.

The annual village fair takes place every year on September 6th, alongside a motocross event.
